I am planning on buying a GSP. Can you please tell me how to properly add salt and cycle it before getting my fish?
I am new to brackish species and need some help.
If you could tell me everything I need to buy and how to set it up, that would be much appreciated

.

You will make life easier long term if you set up the tank as a fish only with live rock tank (fowlr). If you go marine the live rock will be your filtration and you have no transition period.

Thanks PufferPunk for the articles. I am having a difficult time understanding how to add salt to the aquarium,
like if I were to get an empty fish tank today, how would I go about setting it up and cycling it?
Would I add the water with salt, and then cycle or make a freshwater batch and cycle that then add salt. I am very confused..

Thanks!

Really sorry to bother you but I read up some more on brackish tanks and tell me if this is right:
When I change the water, the replacement water needs the same salinity as in the tank, I don't need to add any freshwater it just needs to be the same salinity (mixed with a powerhead.)?
And about the cycling,

I read this, so if I follow this closely will my tank work out?
Thanks so much

I posted a link on how to cycle.
I forgot to add this one to the list:

So when I first buy the aquarium I make a batch of brackish water to fill the entire aquarium? And then I add ammonia and cycle it for a couple weeks?

You could do it that way or cycle as FW, since that's what the puffer will probably be in at the store.
