Hello All,

What type of substrate are you using for your puffer?

I have a hairy puffer but the substrate has too much silica in it and I'm dealing with a brown algae issue and need to determine a better solution. I'm primarily concerned with what is best for my puffer. Appearance is not a priority.

I bought sand from Petco. Mixed black & white, it looks cool!

Ive got 50/50 mix of pool filter sand and flourite red. Looks really good with scoria rock and green plants.

I use floramax and/or eco-complete on my new setups. My older ones are 30+yr old gravel.
