Hi Everyone,

I recently took this beautiful puffer from a friend, she didn't know what type of puffer; luckily i had a spare tank; and the puffer was small (only 1inch big)

i let the tank cycle for 2 months, a tested it with API water test kit; nitrate 10ppm, nitrite 0, and ammonia 0.

the only problem being its in a 30litre tank at the moment, but i just need to know what it is, and how big it will grow so i can provide the right care for it..

I've attached some photos, i hope you can see him clearly!

Thanks
Ali

I really can only see part of the puffer in the last pic. The other 2 are kinda useless. Need a pic of the entire body please. I'm afraid you may have a Fahaka puffer there: http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/ug. ... _Lineatus/

Oh god, Fahaka puffers are huge!

Might have to see if anyone can take him off my hands, so he can get the right care and home

Yep, that's a Fahaka puffer. Very cool fish, if you can house it! Much worth the effort.

Is it still 1 inch ? The one picture almost looks like a dwarf pea puffer and they don't get any bigger then an inch. Did she say how long she had this fish?

Absolutely not a DP. I hope you can find someone to give him a proper home. At least he's small now so you have some time!

Please don't try to let anyone pass that off as a DP or tell you it is! Fahakas might look identical to one when they are fry but anyone getting one thinking it will stay small and cute are in a for a rude awakening when it gets past a couple inches and doesn't stop growing! Those guys are beasts!
