So, I am getting a 15 gallon long tank tomorrow. 24x12x12
In the pufferpedia is shows F8s as 15 gallon minimum and fangs as 20 gallons minimum. Theyre both very active puffers and get the same size.
With my bigger footprint on the 15 long (vs 15 high) why couldnt I house a fangs puffer in the 15 long? Im debating between a fangs or f8. Initially wanted an f8, but am now thinking a fangs mught suit me better due to being freshwater and I could keep floating plants like I want.

Opinions please.

F8s don't have nearly the mass as the Fang's puffer.

My opinion is set your tank up at SG1.002-SG1.003@25DegC and if you want a floating plant you could add Ceratopteris Thalictroides which is a lovely looking plant

But the general question is that the footprint is the same as a 20 gallon. He will still have the same amount of room to swim and I can put extra bio media in the filter.. or even over filter the tank with a 30 to 40 gallon filter. I have the 15 gallon. F8s would be lovely.. just not sure about brackish as Ive never attempted brackish and Id feel better getting used to a brackish setup with fish that arent nearly as sensitive as puffers.
