Hi I'm new here and i'm in the process of cycling a tank for my green spotted puffer coming home this friday. I thought I had enough plants and decor for my puffer but browsing this form leads me to believe that I don't have enough. I have attached photos of my tank so if anyone can give me some tips i'd be eager to listen. Thanks

Also right now I have 3 zebra fish in there to help cycle it and I was wondering if it would be okay to leave those in there with the puffer.

I'm a bit confused... Your subject says Dwarf Puffer & this is posted in the FW Puffer forum, yet you say you're getting a GSP?
Please don't cycle with fish, it's painful for the fish.

No the fish won't live long with the puffs :)

Um i guess I'm confused too because I thought dwarf puffers were the same as green spotted puffers. Anyways I am getting a green spotted puffer so would that tank setup be okay for that?

Probably not. Did you read all the links I gave you? That tank looks much better for a dwarf puffer!
You really need to be absolutely sure what fish you're getting.

#1. The info you got abt cycling your tank with fish is outdated. But it's too late now. Test your water daily and do WCs accordingly (add Prime) to keep NH and Nitrites 0.
#2. Do NOT get any more fish till your tank is cycled. You mentioned you were in the process of cycling your tank, and thus uncertain if it will be cycled by the time you plan to add more fish. There is no set time frame, so please test your water to be sure.
#3 GSP will suffer, and likely die in that setup. It looks like a 10 gal tank. It is the perfect home for 1 DP tho'.

Thanks for your reply. I went and got my water tested yesterday and they said it was fine and sent me home with a green spotted pufferfish, however, I'm beginning to believe the people at petland don't know as much as they think they do. So now I have a GSP in my tank so I need to know what I need to do to make it okay for him cuz I don't want him to die:(

They grow somewhat slow so that setup will be ok for a couple months if he is tiny enough but if you want to commit to keeping him make sure the tank is cycled, rehome the zebra fish, and start investing in salt for brackish water and preferably a 29-40 gallon tank.

Also get a bottle of this

I wouldn't trust a word they tell you, it's all about making $$$, that's it for them. Petland sells puppies bred in puppy mills, too.
