Green spotted puffer questions

My LFS has their gsp's in the low salinity salt system. The sg is 1.017. The puffers are about 3.5" each. Is that a reasonable salinity for that size fish? should I slowly bring it down? Thanks.

No, I think a puffer of that size is well in the range for mid-level brackish water (1.010-1.015) Go to the library and look at the article on GSPs it was really helpful to me.

Sounds like surprisingly good salinity for a LFS - IF its marine salt. No, don't bring it down.

Honestly GSPs from juveniles can be housed in marine conditions. Some shun the fact but in the end they are going to have to get there.

I have all reef tanks so I'd rather keep them at salt. No fresh tanks here.

No no, not infering that they should be kept in fresh. I think that 1bamafan was just meaning that a puff that size should be in atmost of brackish which isn't true.

By no fresh tanks here I meant I do not own any fresh water fish tanks. :-p

No I meant that his water's salinity was fine, not that they had to be kept in those conditions.
