Would pea size snails be okay?


And do puffers that slurp have slower growing teeth than puffers that crush their food?

In my experience size doesn't really matter when it comes to snails. I find that if the snail is big, they just keep picking away until it dies and then go back to it and eat it from its shell bit by bit. I am having *knock on wood* some success with a large nerite snail in with my red-eye puffer but I think thats because the snail doesn't really have any exposed bits for him to grab on to.

Rule of thumb is they will crunch snails as big as their eye, which is pretty darn small. Everything else they will slurp, unless crushed. DPs don't seem to have dentistry problems like many other species though.

My little girl just murdered her first snail. I'm so proud of her.

I put two snails in her tank about five hours ago. One of them is upside down and empty. I just saw her go back to it and make sure there was nothing left inside.

I got the dead snail and crushed it so I could take the bit of remaining meat out for her. I think she had problems getting all of it out?



She ate the meat right when I offered it to her.
