FUUUUUUUU-- :jitters:

This hobby is just presenting problem after problem. :censored: :censored:
I've been putting it off for a long time but I'm just gonna go for broke, bite the bullet, and convert to live rock.

The water changes I have done have rarely been enough for the tank. I've had brown algae problems which I thought was red slime for months, if not a year, right up until the point I bought a treatment and then realised. :durr:

I've got a year now in which I am flexible. Busy, but flexible. After this I am going to be swamped in university and work stuff. At this point, I either need to make this hobby practicable and enjoyable again or give up. But I'm not giving up easy. :grump:

I think I'll hire someone to help me with the process because frankly I'm sick off messing about and learning the lessons the hard way.

Here's hoping I don't just end up down a few hundred pounds and with problems which mean the whole ordeal was pointless.

I don't even know anymore.

This is my last stand.

Really sorry to hear this. If you want to list out specifically what you are having a issue with we can try to help. If its the red and brown algae you can switch to reconstituted rodi water and try to manually remove the most algae as possible. If you can swing it you could add a refugium and throw in some clumps a cheato. The only time i have an issue with alga in my SW is when i don't trim the cheato frequently enough.

Thanks for the kind response, Welch :) I've done a bit of thinking and I reckon I can make this all work out. I think I'll just bear up and do more thorough cleaning and W/Cs for a while (which seemed to work before) until I get myself a new tank with a sump, start a fresh FOWLR tank and do everything thoroughly and properly. I'll take my time this time around. I'm actually quite excited about it. I love the hobby, really. I'm just at a difficult point with it.

Update: Things are going great. Got my tank all sorted out and looking good and intending to add LR some point this year.
