Looking to go big! Finally...

After doing a bit of shopping and surfing the net I have had the itch to setup a large tank. At first I was looking at large catfish (brachyplatystoma juruense [Zebra/Juruense Catfish] or brachyplatystoma tigrinum [Stripped Cat, not to mistaken for a tigrinis]) with some odd ball fish like some polypterus senegalus that I already had or a few stingrays (large matoros or a flower or two), but then it hit me. If i can find a fahaka and one of each of those species of catfish and or a ray I think I might be set. The thing is the catfish (each average of pushing 2 feet) might be seen as a meal for a fahaka or the ray might get a bit peaved with the fahaka and give him a pointy reckoning in the gut. Either way I would like to setup a large tank (about 300 gallons) with a few large species, just would like to know what people have kept with their fahaka's and or know of any.

I think fahaka's are a little too random for me to want to put them with anything else.

I think pufferpunk had a story about a fahaka and a pleco getting along famously for a long time, and then one day they found half a pleco and a smiling fahaka. :D

Plus, even with 300 gallons you're gonna need some serious filtration and water changes to keep up with the waste from all those very large fish.

Personally, I'd just go for a nicely planted fahaka specimen tank with a large veggie filter.

Hehe, yeah thats a plan for my even larger tank once I get my own house. After doing a little searching on monsterfishkeepers.com I have been inspired to build atleast a 50k gallon tank and make it FOWLR tank with multiple species of sw puffs (oh believe me I will find a way of having a multi species sw puff tank.)

I say dream big, or not at all...

that is correct.

there are several people i know that have 35,000 gallon tanks for sharks and such.

50k isnt that hard to do. a tad bigger than a olympic swimming pool

it aint cheap though :P

Yeah, I figure that when I have the space (and of course the funds) I would like to have a tank thats large and natural and one tank being fresh and another salt.
