So the other day I took a trip to the LFS. There was a family there picking out inhabitants for the little boys(maybe 8 yrs old) new small saltwater tank (not cycled or anything as he just got it the day before for Christmas). He's trying to put a Porcupine Puffer, Hippo Tang, Clown Trigger, Yellow Goby, Fire Shrimp, and wait for it........ Sea Horses!!!
The guy that works at the store explained all the reasons why that wouldn't work. The boy was obviously upset and starting to throw a fit. The parents wanted the guy to sell it to them anyway saying: "lets just get them for him anyway and see what happens, he really wants them". Really???? Poor Fish!

Why the porky and seahorses?! Poor fish. Idiot spoiled brat... And parents. Guess they wanted to waste over a hundred dollars on fish and show the kid that he can do whatever he wants with animals

:/ I love finding nemo but I'm smart enough to research the fish before getting them... Especially the ones that cost more than $10.

Its not even about the cost of it. It all comes back to negligence and animal cruelty. Did the person at the store actually sell them the fish? Ive had people at a chain refuse to sell me a fiddler crab because i said it was food for my puff.

Sucks for you and puffy, but it's heartening to know that, for one reason or another, they care enough to take a stand on stuff.

I didn't stay there until the end but he didn't sound like he was going to sell him what they wanted.....
And I totally agree with you, some people shouldn't care for or have children!

I hope the assissant stood his ground and refused to sell those poor fishes. And I hope that the manager/owner would have not caved in under pressure from the parents.
I mentioned a FB friend of mine before who [strike]kills[/strike] keeps bettas. Her latest one died when she left the unfiltered, unheated glass on a windowstill and went on a 3 day vacation. the house heating was turned down and it was -24C outide......
