I recently tried giving my Turgidus some earthworms to try to get him to eat. When he did not eat them and they disappeared into the gravel substrate, a thought popped into my head. Earthworms play a huge role in the decomposition cycle in nature, could having them in your substrate help break down the organic material in your tank? Are there any possible benefits/downsides to having a bunch of earthworms helping your bacteria do its job?

Pretty sure they're gonna drown.

As long as the skin remains moist and there is plenty of O2 in the water, they will survive.
