Hi guys, just joined the forum as I'm sure you guys can help me with any puffer problems I may encounter in my new hobby.
Been keeping fish for a number of years but after a break of a year or two I started up again.
Started fish keeping with a community tank, moved on to South American cichlids and then Malawi cichlids, and now a step into brackish water and the figure of eight puffer fish.
I have a 150ltr tank which has been cycling for a week now and things are looking good, added salt today and will increase the salt slowly to the required level once fish are added, my supplier keeps them in fresh water.
Not using live plants due to the salt (never had much luck with them before), but this may change.
Got the tank, I think ready for the little busybodies with plenty of plants, caves, some rocks, bogwood which I hope will stop them getting bored.
Hoping to add 3 puffers next weekend, so the tank would have had 2 weeks to sort itself out.
So stand by guys for many a question and feel free to throw any tips or advice my way

Thanks for the welcome guys, some good useful advice here and my questions been answered with great response,
Glad I joined.
The tank has been cycled simply by setting it up the way you want it and running filters, heaters and lights etc 2 weeks before the fish go in, after this period of time the filter has biologically sorted itself out and the water should be ready for fish, all the tests came back great, this method has always worked for me in the past with no problems.

Please tell me how the filter has "biologically sorted itself out" without any waste or ammonia to feed bacteria? Tests come out great because there's nothing in there.
