My clear out has continued and I stumble on a largish tank that I picked up for free a few years ago, started cleaning it but the inner seals are shot to pieces. The tank is 39" x 15" x 24", it has an overflow too. Has anyone successfully re-sealed a good size tank? I tried google but keep reading horror stories. I get the jist of how to do it and have used tonnes of silicone before. Is it really worth saving this tank that will sit perfectly in an alcove in my room or is it a nightmare that is better avoided? I personally see some real potential with this project. I could just be dreaming though lol. Thanks in advance

I'd say go for it, just buy more silicone than you actually need. Resealing for the first time, you will waste A LOT of silicone and end up scraping it until you get it right. Best thing to do is practice running a couple of beads until you're happy with the results, then start on the tank for real =P. Good luck!
P.S. you don't even need "aquarium silicone", any food safe grade silicone will work fine (and costs much less).
