I have 2 refugiums added to my reef tank growing blade calurpa ( prob spelt wrong) and chaeto, I routinely thin out the growth and dispose of it once the areas get full. However fuges are great pod breeding sites, how do you ensure most pods are removed from the discarded matter? Violently shake it in your tank? I see millions of pods crawling all over my sump and many in my tank a swell as in my fuges but don't want to throw any away as my fish love them. I regularly scoop a fine net through my sump and release into my tank to create a feeding frenzy lol. Cheers guys

Cool so give it a good shake. It's really cheap here and grows quicker than it sells, not really worth the hassle of selling to be honest

Basically +1 to all of the above, but if I can arrange it tanks properly, I have the 24/7 lighted refugium on the display, with pumped input from the display and passive return to the display. That way the 'pods go to the display for the fish &/or inverts. It takes some careful engineering in the initial set-up, but does channel more 'pods to the display.

With the caulerpa you do need 24/7 lighting to block it going sexual. The cheatomorpha can run on a shorter light cycle safely. It will not be quite as good at extraction of nutrients with fewer light hours, but if you cannot otherwise block unwanted light, it is the best choice. It is always the safest choice.
