Hello everybody,

i had luck to get 2 irrubescos, male and a female. They are swimming around much slower then F8s and I was thinking about of how often should they be fed. Every day a little? Every next day a little more? Twice a week? I don't want to overfeed them or make them hanging around and waiting for food.
Is there anything special an on the irrubescos diet?

Do you have the irrubescos in the same tank as your F8's?

i think that would be a bad idea to put a freshwater-puffer into a brackish water tank

A small amount to give them a belly everyday shouldnt hurt them as long as they are not fed until they look like they're gonna burst.

I like to feed my puffer every other day and vary his food as much as possible so he doesnt get addicted to one food.

Thanks for that link, but i have red it already 10 times while searching for information about irrubescos

here some pics of them just after i have fed them today. Are their bellies round enough?

Those bellies look just right.

Feed every other day with a variety of food and you're good to go.

Agree with X0r nice round bellies, they look very healthy as well. How long have you had them? what tank setup have you got them in?

the tank is not as large, just something around 25g (85 liter), is it enough? Tank-mates are 2 Ottos, 1 Neon and 3 other fishes each 2cm (i was not able to identify them). Puffers have heavy planted sides for every one of them, where they hide under the leaves or in a cocos. They often explore the plants and especially Anubia and the wood in the middle.
I have them in that tank for around 2 weeks. At the first day the male attacked the female often and i thought of separating them, but the day after they were relaxed and everyone have found a place for him. Now there is no stress between them and they swim often together there is also no conflicts on eating snails and worms. I wold not say they are ignoring each other but accepting.

What about the teeth grows by irrubesco? Comparing to other puffers?

What kind of filtration do you have, and how much and how often do you change water?

Puffers are messy eaters and can be very territorial. You may want to consider removing the neon and the 3 other fish, both to reduce the bioload, and to give them more personal space. From the photos though it looks like a very heavily planted tank, so territory might not be an issue. Even so, bioload might be a problem depending on your filtration and water change schedule.

You should provide crunchy foods like snails and those listed in the above linked food guide to keep the teeth down. That should be enough.
