Hi,

I found my congo puffer out of the tank. Apparently, it jumped out and landed on my floor from a height of almost 4ft. I've no idea how long it was out of water. When i picked it up and put it back, it resumed swimming, but it is obviously still not well. Currently, it is just laying still for the last 1hr, breathing heavily, with its eyeballs whitish, and a white fluffy piece of membrane hanging out of its body. Is there anything i can do? I've just put medication which helps to replace the slime coating of fishes in event of stress..

Do you have a cover over the tank? If not, hopefully that is one of the first things to do. Otherwise keep the water clean and give a little time.

Add melafix to reduce stress & help heal any external damage. It should be fine. Get a good cover on there!

increase circulation & add an airstone to aid respiration

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply. My congo is back to his usual self, and I've got a cover now. Never knew of puffers jumping, though I did fill up water till 1/2 inch from the brim. Thanks for all the help.
