Thought it would be fun to do a poll.
So I have a 40B (36x18x16) that Im preparing for a puffer.
The following puffers are on my wish list, which would you pick and why?

Quite inactive IME, but quite bizarre in looks and behavior. They get the "weird fish" prize from me.

Piggy is pretty active, but he's still a baby, will he slow down as he matures?

They def win the weird prize, although I think he's f̶r̶a̶y̶e̶d̶ frilly, rather than hairy.

This one is pretty affordable for me to get compared to some of the others. Any particular reason you like this one?
My own vote was for the hairy... which is not cheap, but the best Ive actually been able to see.

I think the congo puffer would be an interesting and easy-to-keep pet. I'd love to hear about your experience of keeping it if you do choose to :)

I think if i saw a nice red one I would be tempted... but plain, boring brown one is all that Ive seen for now.

The Palembangs markings and body configuration are quite striking. Sometimes the fish lurk in a cave, but also spend a good portion of their time hanging over the top edge of their cave, looking as if injured or dead. "Broken-backed puffer" used to be common name for these fish, and it really fits. If they get hungry, they do/will wander very slowly around - trying other lurking spots. these are truly weird fish.

But all of the lurkers are interesting fish, and one or two species have been captive bred, which also should be a good hobby challenge - if lots of tank space with barriers and good circulation is available. They are a oddball subgroup in an oddball family.
