What I've been doing is breaking the shell a little bit so that he can access the snail but still has to do a little work. Can he break the shell himself? The snails I've been giving are a little larger than a pinky nail and the GSP is around 2 inches. I wish the ramshorns would breed already, they've been here for about two-three months. To make up for the size I've been feeding every other day, is this okay?

My ramshorns all pegged it, I'm overrun with nusiance snails, and Piggy won't touch them

Haha! I wish I had your problem. My snails aren't breeding for me at all. The big ones I'm hoping will start reproducing soon, but I've been hoping that for a while.

Have you tried looking in your filter media? I didn't think mine were, but I found loads of tiny, tiny snails living happily in the sponge media in my filters.

Yes, crushing larger snails is the way to do it. I think eventually, the puffer should be able to crush them though.

I do hope that no one is trying to feed MTS to puffers. They are high-risk for puffers.

The nerites which withstand FW still require full marine to breed. This is impractical for the home, just like breeding Amano Shrimp at home. It can be done but is not practical.

Ramshorns do need a bit more room for breeding and rapid growth than do common pond snails.

It might be helpful if those having issues w/snail breeding would specify what snail is giving them problems, and also what the conditions are under which they are keeping them...

What are MTS please?

Malaysian Trumpet Snails. They are shaped like an ice cream cone & mostly live in the substrate.

Are they the same as nusiance snails? Mine are small pointy things.

That would probably be them. Look up photos of MTS.

Nope, I think mine must be dull old pond snails, they're not as pointy as MTS

What are the tank mates in the tank where you are attempting to breed snails? How long has the tank been set up? What size is it? How often do you water change?
