GSP Water Temp

Just have a quick question regarding optimal water temp for my GSP. His tank is holding perfect at 83, I know the high end recommendation is 80 but he seems fine at 83, very active eating great and swimming all over the tank exploring everything in his domain, not hanging at the surface at all panting. The tank has great circulation from the filter and the internal air stone sponge filter. Is 83 too high?

78 is good, I think 83 is too high. What you're doing is raising his metabolism = shortening his life.

The temp at 83 is also lowering the dissolved oxygen level in the tank, which can lower your safety margin a good bit. If you operate past 80 and go to FOWLR, your dissolved O2 will be at very low safety margins.
