GSP and Krill

Seems to be contradicting information on this forum in regards to feeding frozen krill to GSP's or puffers in general. Some people say to only feed it sparingly, some say its fine as a part of a regular diet and some say that the puffers will become "addicted" to it and will refuse other food and that it causes lockjaw. The forum library article on GSP's says its good to feed krill, kind of confused on what to do as I feed mine krill a few times/week.

I'd go with sparingly. As a general rule, you should vary the diet of your puffer. If you do that, you wont ever have to worry about feeding too much of one food, as you will feed a different kind every other/every day! Seafood mixes that have clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, squid etc are great. You can also find a plethora of other things your puffer will love, whether it be from the LFS or the grocery store.
Would you want to eat the same thing everyday?

The fact that krill may cause lock jaw I wouldn't bother taking the risk when there's so many other foods you can feed your puffer

Krill only causes lockjaw if it's the ONLY thing fed. It's the lazy fish-keeper's way of feeding. Just break some off & toss in.

It's ok as part of a varied diet, but due to the lockjaw links I leave it off the menu

Thanks for the feed back, as I do feed my GSP a varied diet which includes bloodworms, squid, shrimp, scallops, mussels and snails I believe that I will either delete or feed krill sparingly as suggested. It is like candy for mine at least, goes nuts over it!

+1 to G S P Freak's , Pufferpunk's, & Bertie's comments. No monotonous diet is ever beneficial for any fish. Such can lead to deficiencies and/or excesses, or both for different thing needed in a well-balanced diet. Despite most puffers love of krill, no diet of single item is ever going to meet their real needs. Excess or insufficiency can be too easy from such single track diets.
