Problem- Species ID

Hi- So we got a puffer today, the store clerk said it was a freshwater puffer, but after looking at it, I think it looks like a Tetraodon fluviatilis which I believe is brackish. I am attaching a picture of the puffer, could you please tell me if it is brackish or fresh?

Hi and welcome to the forum. That looks like a Ceylon puffer to me, same care as a gsp but gets a little bigger. High brackish will be fine but a marine tank works out more cost effective if you add live rock, a skimmer and a 24/7 lighted micro algae refugium. More layout upfront but cheaper long term. Not a freshwater fish at all

Yes defo tetraodon fluviatilis if you ask me. Just had to cross reference pics as I can get confused easily as most know here lol. Aka Ceylon puffer as a common name

Ah ok thats what I thought. It is somewhat frustrating that the employees said it was freshwater and had it kept in fresh water, as this is my first puffer I did not realize at first.

Beautiful fish! Care & feeding exactly as the GSP, only it gets larger. Add on 10g for it--55g would be perfect!
