When using an algae brush, particularly on cyanobacteria, will harmful waste be released into the water by the dying bacteria?

I've never had a problem. Do a WC after cleaning it off.

+1 to Pufferpunks comments.
Removing as much of the disturbed biofilm from the tamk is important, as is ensuring that circulation /water flow allows no dead spots. Dead spots/poor circulation invites cyanobacteria.
