Salt-Heat Cure for Ick

Just a quick question about RTR's method for curing Ick. I am in the process of slowly transitioning from FW to BW for my F8, while feeding him yesterday I noticed some white dots on his tail and back, very few but noticeable. I want to do the salt-heat method to cure him but want to make sure that by doing so I don't harm my good bacteria by introducing a lot of table salt at once. Thanks in advance for the help!
