Hello to all fellow puffer fanatics! I have a 10 gallon freshwater fully cycled, and ready to house a puffer. When I went to my lfs last, I saw a pea puffer. I instantly fell in love, and then started researching. I found all sorts of cool puffers and then discovered the mighty F8. I a, so obsessed with them and I cannot bare to not have one. I have a 10 gallon which I know isn't a lot, but the water is turned over 15 times an hour, and there are plenty if plants. I was wondering if it would be possible if I could hold a F8 in a 10 gallon full freshwater? If not, what are some other puffers (besides pea puffers).

I'd stick with a Pea or 2 in a 10g. Minimum of 15g for a F8. Check our Library for articles about both.

its just with pea puffers they are so small so i would barely get to see them... what about south americans?

Peas are the only puffs to keep in a 10g. Keep in mind that the pea puffers at the store are very young and they get bigger, maybe double in size.

I have a figure eight in a 10g. I highly recommend against it, I feel like he doesn't have enough space to explore, and the only thing that keeps him from glass surfing is the strong current I have set up. I can't wait to see his personality in a 29g(his new home starting this summer). My dorms only allow 10g tanks.

Look at our Pufferpedia, there are several Carinotetraodon species you can keep as a singleton in a 10g.

True. I'm sorry, haha...I ran my mouth about DPs/10g because of the puffs that are only available in my area. I knew there are others but I only pictured my fish stores.

side note- if you're worried about seeing the pea puffers, don't my two girls in the ten gal are somehow always staring at me. trust me, you'll see them, especially once they start to associate you with food. begging ahoyyyy
