Scuds as food?

Hi All!
Setting up my first Dwarf Puffer tank now - at least a month away from being fish ready (don't even have a source for the fish yet) but it will be heavily planted.
Not a total newbie, have a community tank and a shrimp tank, both heavily planted. Plan on feeding snails from these 2 tanks to my dwarf puffer once he/she arrives.
Here is my question - the shrimp tank has scuds, which I could easily 'seed' the new puffer tank with - IF dwarf puffers eat them and they are good for them. So, nuisance or tasty in-tank snack?
Thanks!
JB
