I have had my figure 8 for about a week and when I first got him I noticed tiny little spots on his back. they are a gold color and are spread evenly in a pattern. These spots seem to be getting more pronounced and I noticed them on his sides too. it doesn't look like ick but it has be wondering. Is this ick or just his pattern? Here is a picture from another forum that I found that looks like him.

I just googled it and that is crazy that all puffers have spikes. I couldn't find a picture of a figure 8 puffed with spikes. Ever seen one?

What you see now is the most you will see of them. They don't spike up like a porky

Yep. I was trying to catheter feed an f8 and he puffed his spikes.

Many puffers spines only show well when they are puffed. Youngish puffers do practice puffing, but for me it is rare to see an F-8 puffed.
