Transferring a leather coral from a hair algae tank

Hi all I recently acquired a beautiful, huge leather coral from someone who was breaking down a tank.
Unfortunately the donor tank had a huge algae problem, so I'm keen not to contaminate my tank! I've read up on leather fragging, so I'm confident I can get it off the contaminated live rock, but does anyone have any ideas how I might 'treat' the leather to remove any residual spores from its surface? Without killing it that is!
cheers.
