too many plants???

Hi! I have a young GSP in a low SG BW tank, currently 1.006. I purchased some kind of plant for his tank before we got him as I was setting up the tank (sand substrate), I think it is a crypt-ta-something. Anyway, it is tall and grass like, grows in bunches and reproduces by sending out a root and then a new bunch comes up. This stuff has been fantastic, but it is taking over the tank. As I am preparing to move the little guy into a much bigger tank I am wondering if there is any way to sort of confine these plants. Am thinking of maybe planting them in some kind of plastic container and trimming any roots that try to sneak out of the containers. Anyone have a method that has worked for them? Will the plastic survive or should I go for glass? I would appreciate any ideas you all may have. Thanks!

Not to worry--as soon as you raise the SG to where the puffer should be at, all your FW plants will die off.

Could you please tell me what plant that is exactly? I cant even get java ferns to survive in my sg 1.004 f8 tank! I'd love to try out that plant. Oh and I agree with PP, your sg will have to go up soon, and the plants must be removed/replaced by plastic plants.

Those are crypt plants. I have best luck with anubius plants though but crypts come in 2nd.

Really? My anubius melted in my f8s brackish tank and was transferred to my DP tank where it's flourishing now! I definitely lack the aquatic green thumb some other aquarium enthusiasts here have. :p

OK, thanks! I am planning to slowly transition into SW once he is in the bigger tank. I guess I won't bother to try and transplant the crypts. GPS freak, I wish I could send them your way. Not sure what I am going to do with them, only other tank is 80ish gallon with an Oscar... Don't think he would appreciate the vegetation...
