I just fed my puffer some raw shrimp defrosted it in some tank water before feeding shell on and left it for maybe 5-6 minutes to eat. now it has a weird bump on the right side in the back by it's butt area. Basically it is bloated which will go down in a few hours im sure but it's like it's double bloated as if it's belly has a belly. it's only on the one area as well never seen this before. I fast my fish about 2-3 days before next feeding. Any ideas what this is i mean never seen it before and i have had this fish for 1 year now.

What type of puffer? 2-3 days between feedings 'seems like a lot for a 1 yo fish

Puffers have no ribs (part of being able to puff up). Thus, unlike other types of fish, you can see food in their gut as it is being digested and moving through the gut. If the bulge moves very slowly it may be over-feeding or low tank temperature.

Lurking predator puffers I don't feed any more often than that when mature (Palembang's puffer and such). Hunter-predators I feed every other day for the larger ones, but I try hard not to over-feed. Both quantity and interval count.

ahh thought it was sick or something it was very unusual. It's a GSP and i rarely go up to 3 days without feeding usually every other day to 2 days
