So I'm getting a bunch of bricks but not enough to do my patio with was thinking of taking them anyway to put in my tank and kinda do a planted lost underwater city thing its 200 gallon 6 ft long, can I use them? And any ideas? Pictures would be great

Ps I want the bricks to build a cave for my fahaka

I could not be sure bricks don't contain metals, or how they get their colour. I'm sure someone here will know for sure

Oh I have thousands of rocks was just thinking it'd look nice with some plants growing in them kinda like a wall I have ideas of how I'm going to set my tank up just thinking of something different I

I have used bricks in tanks, but only after months of soaking. Decades ago when we in town we had a lily pond (concrete) and i used bricks to raise the lily tubs up near the surface for the season, then drop them to the floor for the hardies in winter. I used some of those in tanks to support pots of planted aquatics at the proper depth in tanks as well. But I knew what those bricks were made of and what temperature they were fired. They were fully fish safe. The extras came with us when we moved out here and I still use them.

Standard terra cotta pots, saucers and roof half-round tiles are also fish and plant safe, but only the real terra cotta color is safe without checking, and those should be pre-soaked with some water changes.

You will never get real data from a home store. Use a real and well-trusted brickyard.
