Check out http://www.pufferlist.com.

They need a minimum of 125 gallons, but mine is in a 210 now, and I like that size much better for him.

Obviously, you may start with a smaller tank as juvies but it's best to buy their adult sized tank for them to grow into. Not a cheap endevor... I had many tanks available to me. Started out in a 15g, moved up to a 20g, then 40g, 55g & his now 125g.

i agree, bigger is always better. bare minimum for a A.Modestus is 15 gal. , i keep mine in a 29 gal. hes very happy in there, and i would even think about getting him a 55 gal. eventually, when funds allow it.

i also keep my F8 in a 10 gal., which i now know is just too small for his whole life, i plan on upgradeing to a 20 long. although currently my parents dont want me to gte any more tanks, so i may have to wait till i move out ( which would prolly be after college) to give him a bigger tank.

PP, how long could a fahaka live in a 15g tank?

i think they could live in a 15 until they are an inch and a half or so. but I have never seen one that small! Ive heard it said that its better to put fish like that into their permanent home first. So a 125 or more would be the best to start out with.

Mine started out as a sickly 1"er. He had to be treated for IPs. As soon as he started eating, he quickly grew into a 2" puffer & was moved up to the 29g & so on.
