I'm sure not many people here know me, since i was more of a lurker here than a poster... but just wanted to rear my ugly head back out of the woodwork and say hi and see whats been happening in TPF since i've been focusing a lot more on planted tanks now a days rather than puffers

Hey Homer do you have any pix of your planted tanks?

Do you still have the lovely Fahaka that's in your avatar?

It does feel good being back to the world of sane puffer keepers... Since posting in the puffer section on a certain other forum does become draining as im sure PP understands

I'll post some pics of my planted tanks up a little later as im on my smartphone right now so its a little difficult, but to answer the questions asked, , still have my fahaka, she aint going ANYWHERE

And her tank is also planted with loads of anubias and driftwood, just not super high tech planted since as we all know, besides the occasional biting of leaves, they do like rearranging things too

Hee hee, they are pretty cool little guys, super active and always out and about

From what i've heard, they come from some remote area in China... although i do feel kinda bad owning them, since it was only about a week or so after i bought them that i realized they are actually endangered... so hopefully they'll breed and i won't feel as guilty...

Ahhh yes... nothing worst than being a fish keeper without a tank or puffer...

In all my planted tanks i use ADA Amazonia soil, just that the base layer i use the larger grain, and the top layer i use the fine grain for a cleaner look...

Have you had luck breeding loaches? I want some!

^ I WISH... but unfortunately, no luck yet...

And to add to it, it seems no one has bred this particular species of loach as far as i know... in fact, i even asked the store where i bought them from to try and ask the guys who collect the fish to send over a sample of the water where they come from along with their next shipment so that we could test the water and get a rough idea of what the water parameters are like where they come from...

But even the LFS' owner was saying its going to be tough to get a sample, and even if they manage to do so, there is no guarantee the sample didn't just come out of some tap at the train station or something... but still waiting to see if by chance we maybe able to get a sample some how, since the guys who collect these fish would never actually take you to their so called "fishing hole"...

Naturally, if i do manage to breed them, then i'd be more than happy to share the wealth, although shipping an endangered animal overseas is probably a bad idea sadly... otherwise, i would love to...
