What is this bone?

My dog pulled this out from under my neighbors shed. I have googled for hours and the closest match is a human knee joint.....which would be very weird.....so we are all freaking out. I was wondering if some one could PLEASE identify it as not human. I am hoping that it is a ham bone. In my area, the only animals big enough to match the bone are pigs, cows, horses, bears, and deer. It has been cooked, so I think it probably some sort of animal.

That does not appear to be human. im betting goat. Do you live in a mexican neighborhood?

My wife is Mexican and I have learned quite a bit of the culture

their is a delicacy called "fritadas". Its a meal for a large group of people that involves the consumption of an entire goat for a special occasion..

If its a real fritadas, the goat is slaughtered on site by an experienced person. The blood is drained and used as a the soup. the animal is then chopped up entirely from the inside-out and cooked in a hole in the ground. The bones are obviously not consumed, and may be tossed out. Their are many bones in any mammal and some pieces may have been missed and eventually found in the oddest places whether it be through weather, or the garbage truck dropping some garbage or animals carrying it and gnawing on it and moving on. It may sound gross if you are not familiar with the culture but its a culture different than many. Not all Mexicans do this, just depends what part of Mexico its from, its a large country.

If its not a goat, IDK but maybe at least I just gave you some new info :D

I would be so happy if it were goat, but there aren't any goats around here. Just a cow farm across the street. Oh' and a man up the road sells ostrich meat. But no goats. I googled goat bones and they do look similar, but the goat does not appear to have the little bone in the pictures. The little bone was attatched to the big bone before my dog chewed it.

I gost one mexican neighbor but they live ten miles away.

But, I am glad that you don't think it is human. My neighbors are a little strange, she has been throwing meat and food out her front door all Day to the cats. I am thinking of sending my dog over again so she can bring me back another bone

LOL, my neighbors would love me forever if I called the police to say I found human bones..I would wind up on one of those shows "world's dumbest 911 calls"

Reminds me of that movie The Burbs with Tom Hanks.

I am sure it is just a goat or pig or something.

I thought this would be fun/educational, getting the kids to identify a weird bone...instead..."mom, call the police, the neighbors cooked somebody!"

I'm thinking it's a front shoulder joint on a pig.
