I come across a puffer in my LFS that i was advised is a dwarf puffer and named it a yellow spotted puffer, I have since been researching to try ID my fish and cant seem to do so. I feel im 90% sure its a GSP, green spotted puffer and if this is the case I can start dripping RO+salt to my tank to get a little salinity going. I don't want to do this if its not a GSP as my LFS also said these are strictly FW

Please someone help me out with an ID

BTW Im new to forum so big hello from me and a big hello from my unnamed unclassified puffer fish :)

[welcome]

That is a 110% GSP. If the tank has been sufficiently cycled you can start to raise salinity no more than .002 a week.
Also that puffer looks unhealthy and pinched. Treat for Internal Parasites immediately using Prazipro or Jungle Parasite Guard fizz tabs soaked in food.

Also note these guys are best housed in marine salinities and 30-55+ gallon tanks when they grow up.

Yea get the ip treatment whilst he is eating good, you need a med you can treat his food with. Water treatments don't tend to work as freshwater fish don't drink water

How long has your tank been established? Any tank mates?
