Ugh... It pays to be lazy in these situations. I would just have chucked it out on the lawn, next to the other 10-20kilo of rock . Definitely good to keep in mind for sure though.

That's exactly what I did last year with a tank I tore down. Left the rock on some gravel in the yard over the winter. Best way to "cook" out the nasties & all life on there. Sprayed with water, scrubbed with a brush & good to set the tank up again.

So this toxin is just a bi product of an organism and isnt really a living organism? im really intrested in this science seeing how it was boiled and still deadly. Im assuming it was carried through the vapor into very fine concentrated toxin. quite fascinating mother nature. Thnks for this fwd. I have so much research to do now

Yea I wasn't trying to advertise another forum but I couldn't pass up putting the info out there because i'm sure doing something like that has crossed a lot of peoples minds.

Although even after 20,000 posts at RC, they banned me, I still appreciate good info from there. Way too over-moderated though...

That is why I like this forum, the mods, mentors and tech team are chosen well. I have never seen any mod on this forum ban someone for a legitimate opinion, even strongly worded opinions. If there is a problem, they just lock the thread.....instead of making announcements and stickys threatening to suspend or kick out members. Why make a sticky, when you can just lock the thread and send a private message?

Another thing about those forums that gets me boggled is the lack of respect for obvious experts. I know it may be a fallacy of logic to never question the practices of an expert, but if I have a question about a plant or a critter I think it wise to go with info provided by someone who has kept planted tanks for years and critters to their full life expectancies.

Ok, sorry for the thread hijack. It is just so frustrating on these forums sometimes.

This is why I stay here and here only. I have joined other forums in the past but they just take the mick out of my OCD tank practices. They don't seem to understand the benefits of clean water, it certainly does not hurt to do a little extra so why slate it? This is why our fish live longer and stay healthier than them with their 10% or whatever weekly partials in their somewhat overstocked tanks. Not saying all of them, just some. Time for a lay down lol

I am guilty of plotting out types of decor + quantity and drawing sketches of how the tank will be laid out. We do it for houses so why not our fish?

Lol. I have done many drawings of how I will set up the tank, I have never followed one though lol

I just dump the stuff in one at a time and slowly change things around to fit everything and until I am pleased with the end result, but my drawing skills are appalling so I don't bother with those.
