I don't see an issue with it, especially after boiling it, it might take time for wood to soak up enough water to not float though

I found some really cool root that was dried up but I got chased out by some bees, close call. I got some rocks, im gonna boil em and go back for some more after I get rid of the bee pheremones since one landed on me. found only 1 ramshorn snail but I had to squash it to know what a live one looks like and found no more

My wood way way to big to boil so I soaked and scrubbed it with really hot salt water. I dumped pots of boiling water over it also. I soaked mine f or days and it would not sink. It has been in my tank since first week of november and it still won't sink. We had to drill holes through it and tie it to rocks with clear fishing line.

if the wood wont sink after some time i read that people usually get some slate rock or floor tile, drill holes in the rock or tile and screw the driftwood to the rock with stailess steel or nylon screws. then they bury the slate rock in the substrate and it looks natural. just some f.y.i.
