Im looking to get sort of a wet pet, are these fish active and owner responsive?

Ime, they do come to u for food but they do not "beg". Mine are usually busy with exploring in my well planted tank. But, they are always watching me though..

Puffers are highly intelligent wet pets and personality does vary. More active puffers such as these will spend much of their time cruising their territory looking for food. Some will be more personable than others though

Mine spent a lot of time exploring and they definitely begged. They were very interactive and any time they saw someone watching them they came out front. They're very nice puffers IME.

Thanks again everyone, does anyone know if the need snails and if they would eat 3 big apple snails that i have?

Also, could a trio live in a heavily planted 29 gallon?

They do need snails. Apple snails aren't good for them though as they'd just nip at it and they wouldn't get the benefits of a crunchy food.

I think that as long as you had 1 male and 2 females you could do it. The tank would have to be very heavily planted though and you'd have to keep an eye out for aggression.

Probably best to stick with a male female pair and decorate heavily? Or 2 females

It will depend in part on tank size and planting density, but whenever possible to tell sexes apart, I'd rather have two females than one - to avoid the male harassing a single female too much. Three females might be better still, but tank size would have to be upped substantially again.
