LED tank light example of good lighting

As you can see the lights I have on my tank do cover the entire tank front to back. One speculation of LED lights is that they shoot straight down and dont cover the areas that they are not directly pointed at.

The picture is a little compromised due to the sizing requirements of the forum but you get the picture (no pun intended).
Measurement of the light is 48'' long, and the tank is 51'' long, notice I dont have black areas from the lack of light left or right. The tank is 24'' wide and I have plants on one side covering the tank from front to back, notice I don't have a lack of lighting from front to back either. The lights themselves are tiny (half the size of an eraser on a No.2 pencil). 10 blue, and 10 white across the entire 48''.

Side note: The shimmer from rippling water adds a great effect
