Okay, I saw these clownfish (captive bred) and an anemone at PetCo. I have no idea what kind it is, because I didn't write the name down . . but could this pair work out with my 1 GSP and 2 yellow tail damselfish? I guess what I worry about is, if my puffer did "taste" the anemone, would it's sting hurt him? My GSP is doing just fine with the damsels, and I'd like to add more. My tank is 75 gallons.

That looks to be a Hawaiian Condy. Not a very "friendly" anemone.

Thanks PP. Not that PetCo couldn't be mislabeling things but that wasn't the name. It was something more "complicated". I'll do some searching about the name you give however. It does say to not "touch the tips" but I'm more worried that my GSP would get a sting, which would teach him to leave it alone, as long as it doesn't hurt/kill him

Okay, yep a Hatitian pink tip condy. Not going to work for me. Moves around the tank, has a nasty sting that can kill other soft corals, and a red-legged hermit is a predator of it, which I still have one of those. He's not been eaten yet, like I first thought Interestingly, says it has no true host fish and clowns and damsels don't reside with it. This fish in the store sure loved him

What fish was that?

Some type of Clarki clownfish. It's color is just more yellow than a "normal" clownfish. I like the fish, and would like to now find what kind of anemone would be good for a beginner. Some I'm reading suggests not putting an anemone in a tank till it's been up and running 10 months. Any suggestions?

If you are serious about getting an anenome and clownfish, I would suggest either Mated pairs of Clark or Maroon clownfish and a bubble tip anenome. If they are not a mated pair buy a single. Both species will host the bubble tip which is probably the easiest anenome to take care of as long as you have an established tank. If the clowns decide to host the anenome which isn't always garunteed, they will probably only leave it to feed. Be sure to separate it from your corals as it will sting them and could possibly kill them.

I know! I was curious to see if she ever decided to purchase an anenome or needed some assistance with anenome research.

Sorry, Nom, just saw you replied. I decided against an anenome, due to the possible damage to other corals. I still have not gotten a clownfish either, but if I do, it will be an oscillars (spelling??)
