It claims the new improved formula dissolves instantley with a little agitation...any opnions?

Never heard of it. Then again that's not saying much since the only brand of marine salt I've ever heard of/used is Instant Ocean lol.

I have heard of the brand, never used it though. Claims on the website seem a little too good to be true,but I could be wrong

They have very nice aquariums though.

I would still premix their salt mix with water prior to adding it to your tank. Treat it as any other salt mix.

Be careful about these sales tactics. Read past anything that might indicate opinions, such as "we have the best.."

Absolutely! Always mix overnight with a powerhead.

I'm thinking about putting it In a jug and violently shaking it till its completely dissolved. Rather primitive yes.

Haha, that's what I do I always let the bucket sit over night though too. As long as it's all dissolved... don't forget KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid Simplest isn't always the worst lol.

I hope you have very strong arms. If you don't at first, you will after a few partials. Marine mixes are not as rule fast dissolving. Some of the trace thing
s are pretty slow.

I am too old and too lazy. I use reservoirs (tanks or food-safe trash cans with puimps/powerheads and tubing). I fill via the Python and move after dissolving and/or tempering via the pumps. I gave up buckets for water decades ago.

Yea i can totally see pumps being useful. I just dont have a spare one. Too lazy to take the one off the tank. Its in an akward position. Looking at my responses that i dont rember. ..Face palm.

Don't be lazy. Buy another one--see if your LFS has any used.

If you still want to go the simple route mix the saltwater in a bucket using a strong air pump with a bubble stone and stir with a wire wisk for a bit.

I just mixed the instant ocean in 5g buckets. Used 5 tbsp per bucket. I shook it a bit and it was crystal clear in 5 minutes ...i did a 10g change in a 20g. I got a hydrometer and i increased 1.002 looks almost to the dot ...i will add slightly a little more salt next time to increase it slightlt more

I am the lazy one - which is exactly why I have duplicates or spares of almost everything. I don't shake manually, I use pumps or powerheads. I don't carry water, I pump or vacuum. Progress is achieved by the lazy - we will do all sorts of planing and engineering to avoid manual labor. But by and large, my tanks are remarkable easy to maintain. For me at least, routine work which requires minimal or almost no effort is work which actually does get done routinely. If it a big chore, it may well wait a good bit.

Plan and test slowly, then do routine work quickly and efficiently with minimal effort. It also means that the tanks stay in better shape.
