I think my puffer has an air bubble and needs some help

Hi- I came home today and my puffer is floating at the top of my tank! It looks like an air bubble so i tried to "burp" him but this did nothing but stress the heck out of him. any ideas?

i tried that... do i just keep tryin and trying? My LFS said to trap him in a container and put him on the bottom of my tank.

ok i tried again... much longer and agresively this time... I will not do it again cuz i know i scared the crap outta him. hes gonna hate me forever if he lives. It still didnt work. Anyone????????

something worked... he's fine now. I tried to burp him 3 diff times and that didnt do it so i put him in a container in the bottom of my tank last night with some mysis in there as my LFS told me too. Came home from work today and he was fine. LFS says that eating and being at the bottom of tank where there is more pressure for the air to work its way out is the key. I dont pretend to know but Im very happy! Please pass this on to anyone who has to deal with this situation.

Thats awesome! He may have simply had gas/constipation but im no expert. Was there any poop or bubbles in the container that had not been there before? He may have simply passed whatever was affecting him.

That reminds me of that one Dr.Doolittle movie where the rat was dying but then he just farted

Thats funny but can you imagine the pain that poor guy was in... And I was massaging his stomach to make it hurt more

Thankfully one task I have never, yet, had to do to one of my puffers..Good to hear that yours is making a recovery.
