Okay i had a large leafed plant in my tank. Now its gone. The remaining stems have large bite marks. I was in doubt but then right now i saw him take a chunk out of a stem... is this normal behavior to eat plants?

Your fahaka won't eat them. It will just bite them and spit them out.

Mine does the same with fake plants.

Yes if he doesn't like it there he will move it any way possible, they are very rude lol

They like to bite everything to see if it's edible. I always find small pieces of plastic leaves in my sump lol.

My fahaka tears up plants in the past during snail hunts. I'm about to try again with amazon sword.

He also take bites off plastic plants.

Hahaha that's hilarious you mention thtat.. it was my amazon sword he tore down to a stump...he has not touched my rose swords yet, he seems to like wearing the leaves as a large hat

My fahaka bit a decoration just to test it lol I haven't been able to keep plants real or fake, he just tears them apart. There was one instance however, I submerged a few pothos plants in the sand, he look like he really enjoyed the big leaves, like he was in heaven or something lol out on the leaves, not sure if this was a fluke thing or not.

I've had the best luck with submerse Crinums with Fahakas (and with T. mbu). Either species did best with plants well established before the fish were moved into the tank. Both species could and did kill plants where they did not "want" them by biting them down. Both species did tend to rest/nap and to sleep under the near-surface loating leaves of the Crinums.

I just tied some Java moss to my hard resin driftwood. hopefully this can cover up some the fakeness. I also put in some narrow leaf Java fern. its going to be a cheap loss or a big gain.
