You may've watched 'Tanked' on TV and wondered what they use to cycle their tanks. Well here it is:-

On another forum someone emailed the guys from tanked and got this reply:-

Hey Rob,

I'm tackling a few questions that you had about ATM installs. Yes, sometimes RO water is used with a pro grade salt mix. For cycling, we introduce our own nitrifying bacteria called "Colony". This allows us to get the bio-filtration started immediately so that the fish are safe when they go in. Because all the nitrifying bacteria goes in all at once, the fish can go in too. Typically, a cycle takes time because it is a long wait for the nitrifying bacteria to divide enough times to create a functional filter. Colony puts them all in at once, so no wait is necessary.

I've seen that TV show quiet a bit, and it's interesting... I always did wonder how they got tanks set up so quickly and safely.. very interesting! Thanks for sharing that =P
