Their poo should look like little human poos, if it's white and stringy it likely has ip's

Can you elaborate on what it is that the feces looks like? Also, what are you feeding the fish presently? That will have a lot to do with it as well.

yes most of the time it looks like human poo but sometimes a lot of it will come out all connected and quite long.
its never been white.it has twice been pink but that may be the prawn.

hes eating prawn,bloodworm and snails atm.he refuses cockle and mussels.

On the occasions that I give ours prawns, he seems to defecate them out almost like they went in. In other words, pretty much whole. I don't give them to him very often. If your fish otherwise does well and has no other issues, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The sooner you can get him onto some type of whole crustacean or shellfish, the better.

well im trying him on mussel and cockle and he doesnt go near the cockle and he spits the mussel out.ive tried soaking them in garlic too.yeah sometimes it does come out how it went in lol.im glad this is nothing to worry about.is there anything else food wise i could try him with???
i wont give up and i will keep trying.he really loves prawns and snails tho.

It took my fahaka about a year to take cockle. In the end I fasted him for a few days then he had no choice but to eat it. He loves it now.

hes only 2.5 inches.all he ate when i got him was bloodworm.then he started to like prawns.so hes juat having bloodworm,gutloaded river shrimp,prawns and snails.

i will keep trying.

Are the prawns raw or pre cooked? River shrimp fed up for a couple of weeks with veggies and high quality garlic soaked meats are nutritious. All my puffers have always liked peas, they get them weekly

well ive stopped the river shrimp for now as he cant catch them.so hes just on prawns,bloodworm & snails.
yes there pre cooked.ive checked for additives and preservatives in them and there are none.

Whole shrimp would be my choice over prawns. Reason being that an entire animal is more nutritionally complete than part of an animal. You say he can't catch them: Why not just buy a quantity and just freeze them, then thaw and offer as required? Frozen krill would be another option. I would be feeding him as much as he will eat, once per day. Also, I would skip the garlic-thing. A healthy fish should not require any additives or special treatments like that.

are you talking about the prawn looking shrimp or river shrimp???

obviously i cant freeze the river shrimp as they are live and wont be gutloaded so there pretty much water.

Yes ghosts need gutloading prior to feeding. Try to avoid krill, it's puffer crack.

im getting confused by the different info.so no to krill??
what shrimp am i being told to freeze??

is there any harm in feeding the prawn and bloodworm and snails.wilst i keep offering the mussle & cockle?
