GSP afraid of tank decoration!

I just replaced a large rock in my aquarium with one of those big mangrove root decorations. I thought my GSP would like swimming in and out of the roots, and that it would give him more swimming space. However, my GSP is quite leery of this new decoration. He gets timid around it and is avoiding swimming through it at all costs. I am going to try to put some food by it so that he can get used to swimming through it, but my questions are, do GSPs usually get upset by switching tank decorations? And, do you think he will adjust to it after a few days? I really don't want to remove it. Thanks

Decor changes can be threatening to fish, but they do tend to adapt to them as they become familiar with them.

Time is the answer and I wouldn't worry one bit about it. I've upped to a larger tank before and my F8 spent a week or two pacing the back glass before checking things out even though all the decor was from the old tank.(46g to 55g)

Now that I think about it I did go to a dark substrate and I'm sure that was part of it.
