Looks very skinny, I would start ip treatment straight away. You need suitable meds to treat the food, don't treat the water.

yeah like i stated in my meet and greet thread he was alot more skinny when i brought him.which brand ip treatment would you recommend as you also live in the uk like me??
would you recommend i feed him more than normal right now being as hes skinny??

Use jungle parasite fizz tabs, feed as much as he will take within reason just to keep his strength up. Another med is prazipro? Not sure if the spelling is right. It needs to be food safe though

thinking about it im gona hold back on he ip treatment for a few days as i have no idea what and how much he was being fed at the shop.just gave him some mussel and his belly is nice and large.i will see how he is by the weekend.

It's not something to hold back on, if they get skinny quick it's worth treating. Once their stomach fills with parasites it is near impossible to treat. Look out for white stringy poo and stomach sinking back by the next day as these are definately signs. I give my fahaka a good meal and his tummy stays looking round for 24- 48 hrs then resumes the torpedo shape, no sinking in

ive not seen any white poo at all.his tummy stays round for about 24hrs.it doesnt go down straight away.thats why i dont think the lfs fed him enough.no other signs that ive been reading are showing.when i brought him they told me to feed him nothing but snails and bloodworm for 2 weeks while he settles in.i find tho that he doest get full enough on bloodworm.so thats why i think hes been underfed.2 hours ago he ate 2 gutloaded ghost shrimp and some muscle.right now his belly is bulging and hes laying down on the sand.

It is not hurtful at all to treat for IPs.

i wasnt disagreeing with anyone just wasnt seeing any other signs leading to that.
the good thing is ive taken your advise and started him on treatment.best to be safe than sorry.

well rockys doing great but should i be worring about his food interest.
hes not a massive eater and prefers bloodworm and snails.ive offered him a cockle and he looked at it like "what the hell is that".hes tried a very small bit of prawn and muscle but doesnt seem overly interested right now.could this be due to still settling in and not being used to the new food???

he likes to take his time when he eats.he doesnt eat huge amounts.his belly gets nice and round but not overly big like ive seen others get.
im feeding him twice a day atm to beef him up.im also soaking his food in garlic juice.

Try soaking new foods in garlic.

i personally think he was skinny due to poor diet but who knows as long as hes getting better thats the main thing

Puffers are generally wild caught. Intestinal parasites are very common in them.
