is it ok to leave the uneaten shrimp in the tank with the puffers till they get eaten or should i remove them? will they produce alot of waste??

If they are alive leave them in there, they will clean up puffer scraps

Yes it is common in lots of puffers. I like a good rest after stuffing my face too lol.

my gsps became friends of a ghost shrimp that i served like food, at the end, the shrimp measures 10 cm and the puffers seems to feed him spiting food to his position, he leave when the tank became marine.

Odd they cannot adapt to marine? I had a batch survive for several weeks with my GSPs... they were eventually eaten.

I had a Red Cherry shrimp baby I put in my tank, for the puffer, but he never saw him when I dropped him in. I figured eventually get him, but the other day when I was cleaning, I saw the poor thing holding on to a moss ball (also doing well in salinity of 1.012). I gave the moss ball to a friend, saw the RCS on it, and "rescued" him by putting him back in my RCS tank. Amazing it went for over 3 weeks in there, maybe longer. I only tried it once, because I just can't kill my little cherry shrimp. Also had a ghost shrimp that was so fast, GSP could never catch him, so I took him out too. Hardy little things I guess.

The "ghost" shrimp we get from the Gulf Coast, USA are all species which are FW to BW species. All but one of those species which I have kept have planktonic larvae, so need SW for development, with the adults returninh to BW or FW . We occasionally see long-arm shrimp in with the "ghosts" and all the local long-arm shimp have SW planktonic larvae as well.

Red Cherry shrimp are supposed to be FW, but I am not shocked that they can handle BW as well.

I have a fahaka with ghost shrimp, I got em so he could snack on em but he has never touhed them. They feel very comfortable around him so much they are breeding...vey odd but hey, they are great vacuums

When I had my DPs with some ghost shrimp, they didn't even bother to go after them which was surprising.

If your DPs ignore the shrimp, they do make handy scavengers in a DP tank. But I would not risk them there if I wanted to breed the DPs. They are not trustworthy toward eggs or fry.

So, is it true they can live in SW?? I felt so bad for mine in the tank, that I put him in my FW tank. My GSP can't catch them, and if they can live in salinity, I wouldn't mind having some in the tank.

I've fed River shrimp to my sw puffers and months later I've found them hiding in the LR. The River shrimp I buy in UK are BW

I wild catch river shrimp near me, they can be found where rivers meet the ocean all the way upriver. Lfs tend to keep them mid brackish as that's where we find them in highest densities round here

Can you catch many of them at a time?
