Treat it like a usual dogface puffer A. nigropunctatus. It's its very close relative from the red sea.

Thanks Corvus.

What tank mates would you recommend. Can I keep another puffer (masked or different) or does he need to have the tank to himself?

Cheers

There are people, which have kept them together with Diodon holocanthus for many years without problems, but there are also cases reported where Dogface puffers and Porcupine puffers did not get along. This depends on the "personality" of the fishes, the experiences they made so far and is difficult to impossible to predict. I'd prefer tank mates from other families depending on the size of the system.

Thanks again. Think I am going to stay with just the masked puffer and maybe a couple of small fish, like goby. Tank I'm looking at is q little over 100g.

I did spot these swimming in the Red sea in "groups". At that tank size, I recommend keeping with a few small dither fish. Certainly no other larger fish. Let him be the centerpiece.

Thanks pufferpunk. That's what I was thinking also. Just need to source one now!
