Hey guys I'm new to the forum but not to fish/puffer keeping,
I have a baby 4" fahaka that i got as a present from the wifey for fathers day when it was under an inch(BANE) in a 125g,i just got Minion my fahaka puffer(that I also raised from under an inch) back from a guy I had to sell him to due to his tank leak then broke:(
Just bought a 220 that had a fl gar in it but gave it away when the other owner had told me he wanted to sell minion but was womdering if i was interested in him,Well now after 5mnths I got him back, he isn't eating at this moment I just got him yest.(Friday) and Im kinda getting paranoid he's around 9" when I sold him he was 5",is it normal tajt he doesn't want to eat,will it take him time to get comftorable again?he swims a lot back and forth and let's me pet him,I threw in some frozen clam on the half shell,live cray,and even bloodworms but nothing he ignores them even though the cray was in front of him??He does look plump not skinny or underweight?

Let it settle for a while. I wouldn't be worry. You are sure brave to pet a 9in fahaka though..

Lol true I was a little scared but I have always pet him since he was a baby ,I'll give him some time I hope he really comes through fingers crossed!!!!

He will soon settle. You should not touch him, you will likely damage his slime coat causing health issues. Besides that they are more than capable of biting big holes in human hands.

Wow I did not know that,about the slime coat ok no more touching thanks,its just I get too worried you know he's my fav fish of all time!

They can go a couple of weeks without eating and it will cause no harm. Keep trying as his greedy nature will soon overwelm him and he will eat

If earthworms don't work, try soaking his favorite foods in garlic to enhance appetite & make the food more appealing to him.

Yeah, I know it sounds weird...

I tried the soaking in garlic he smelled it and went to it right away as soon as he got to the food he just turned around???

It's a start...

He just ate bloodworms I tried clams after he ate them and nothing???

Was the clam soaked in garlic?

Try that. And when you get him eating again, start soaking his foods in Vita-Chem or Zoe FW vitamins.
