Hello, I have noticed that there is salt in one edge of the aquarium. It is the only edge where the water runs down from the top. So, does the top leak? -because I don't think the water is too high!!! It is the only edge of my aquarium where water runs down and salt is inbetween the glass.

The aquarium has still guarantee and I want to give it back because I am afraid that it is going to break .

I cleaned most of the salt deposit off the pane, so that you can see it better.

The tank is overfilled, not level, or leaking. or a combination of those things. If it is still under warranty, return it.

Is there water flowing directly against that side of the tank? I keep the water lever about 1/4" above the lowest part of the top plastic trim.

The revealed perception of the top trim should look uniform from every side as you look at it from different places


But as RTR stated, this is the most important thing to do, level the tank with a level on the top edges, front to back and side to side before it is filled.


Shim the corners with wood shims from Lowes or HD.

The level is fine, there is just a stream pump in my aquarium which is on the other end of the tank. But the other edge does not "leak" from the top.

Definitely don't fill to the lip.

Looks just overfilled to me. I had a smaller Tetra tank, which would do the same if it was too full. Condensation in corners, hygroscopic effects, cappilary effects and surface agitation of the water (as well as some fishes) lead to such salt creep.

Can't totally exclude a leak from the pics, but you can get the photographed salt creep on every tank with a higher water level and many hood models. If a tank truly leaks, you'll know.

I'd lower the water level and maybe put the stream at another spot and slightly deeper.

ok, I will try to put the stream deeper and get some water out today. We will see what happens !

"If water is in contact with the top rim material, it may wick over and down the outside, especially at corners where ripples and splashes wet it (the rim). Currents, fish movements, etc. can make ripples and generally these are good as the boost air exchange. But if the rim is not perfectly sealed, water can creep over."
